The division is focused on ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed and has designated numeracy and student mental health and wellness as division priorities.

Northern Lights Public Schools invites applications for the following position:
S2122-32 Educational Assistant - North Star Elementary School
This is a part-time (0.50 fte) position commencing as soon as possible and for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year. This is an afternoon assignment and involves assisting with students educational program needs in a a Kindergarten classroom. Training in speech, language and numeracy strategies will be a definite asset.
North Star Elementary is located in the City of Cold Lake with approximately 300 students in Kindergarten to Grade 4. Walk in the doors of North Star Elementary School and you will feel the difference! The school is bright and spacious; children are engaged, happy and busy; the staff are energetic and friendly.
Preference will be given to applicants who have :
Post-Secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant
Knowledge and experience working with expressive and receptive language development skills
Knowledge and experience with behavioral strategies
Experience working one-on-one and/or in a classroom setting
Knowledge of documentation procedures and proficiency with computers
Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans
Training and skills that would be an asset include:
Relative experience in educational assistance, nursing and/or rehabilitation
Literacy and numeracy
Previous experience at the Elementary level
SIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
